Memo de marzo 2011

MARCH 2011

few months back we shared with you a chapter from Dr. Les Thompson’s forthcoming book, “Letters to Carlos.”  As a reminder, the book is filled with letters of advice and encouragement from an older, seasoned pastor to a young pastor filled with dreams, promise and questions.

We are using a handful of these letters in our bi-monthly journal of help and encouragement to our growing LOGOI family overseas. It probably goes without saying how much our Spanish brothers and sisters in Christ are enjoying and benefiting from these letters.  We can’t help but smile at how many of them feel they are the “real” Carlos (or “Carlita” as case may be).

When Dad’s not looking, we sneak into his office to get copies of his letters so we can translate them into English and share them with you.  This letter, titled, “A Coat of Many Colors” is one for any of us who has that “someone in the church” who (for whatever reason), just rubs us the wrong way.  And by the way, if you don’t have someone like that, be careful, it might just be you.

I’m convinced that one of God’s greatest miracles is His patience with me.  If you feel the same, you’ll appreciate this particular Letter to Carlos.  And as you read it, please take a moment to say a prayer for the many thousands of pastors overseas God is enabling the ministry of LOGOI to help and encourage every day.  What a joy to serve them, help them, and encourage them as they proclaim the Good News in their communities.

And of course, as the Lord enables, we do ask for your generous financial help.  We know these are difficult days for so many.  We have certainly felt it at LOGOI.  But as King David proclaimed, “My heart is confident in you, O God; no wonder I can sing your praises with all my heart!  For your unfailing love is higher than the heavens.  Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds” (Psalm 108:1 & 4).

In His love,

Ed Thompson
