Robert A. Traina was born in Chicago, Illinois. He is a graduate of Spring Arbor Junior College (now Spring Arbor University) (A.A.), Seattle Pacific College (now Seattle Pacific University) (B.A.), The Biblical Seminary in New York (S.T.B., S.T.M.), and Drew University (Ph.D.). He has taught at The Biblical Seminary in New York, and from 1966 until his retirement in 1988 he served on the faculty of Asbury Theological Seminary, during which time he was also Academic Dean and Vice President for Academic Administration. He is the author of Methodical Bible Study: A New Approach to Hermeneutics, which is one of the principal resources for inductive Bible study. Dr. Traina is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. He resides in Florida.
