Somebody’s Prayin’

One of the things I miss a lot about my Dad is how he prayed for me. He loved me and wanted the best for me and who better for him to talk to than our Creator? I cannot explain how much my Mom’s prayers mean to me, as well. Like my Dad, knowing my Mom prays for me constantly brings me great comfort, joy, and peace.

Angels are watchin’, I can feel it
Angels are watchin’ over me
There’s many miles ‘til I get home
Still I’m safely kept before your throne
Lord I believe, Lord I believe
Your angels are watchin’ over me.

A mom and dad are desperate about a wayward child who has walked away from everything they have taught and believe. A young mom just learned devastating news that turns her entire world and plans completely upside down. A wife tells her husband she no longer loves him and wants a divorce. A grandpa has to say goodbye to his bride of 50 years and doesn’t know how he could manage one more breath…

Somebody’s prayin’, I can feel it
Somebody’s prayin’ for me
Mighty hands are guiding me
To protect me from what I can’t see
Lord I believe, Lord I believe
Somebody’s prayin’ for me.

Max Lucado explains it well: “Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the One who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference.”

Perhaps even now as you read this, someone is coming to mind you can pray for. Maybe it’s you. Just think of the joy and power of bringing that person, through prayer, directly to the throne of God Himself.

As our partner in ministry, thank you for praying. We can feel it. The Lord has given us many thousands of pastors and teaching leaders to serve and help and our efforts are worthless without God’s touch. We covet your prayers and help. It is such a blessing knowing “somebody’s prayin.’” It does make a difference — because of the One who hears them.

Somebody’s praying. Forever!

P.S. The lyrics here are from a beautiful ballad titled, “Somebody’s Prayin,’ written by John Elliot. If you like, I did a recording of this song just for this letter. See the music video:
