Merry Christmas from LOGOI

t’s 82 degrees here as I write you this Christmas letter. To help get in the mood, I’ve lowered the thermostat to 70, fixed my screensaver to show a light drifting snow over evergreen trees in the mountains, and have Bing Crosby singing, “I’m dreaming of a White Christmas” in the background. If this doesn’t work, I’ll just go to the beach and work on my tan.

When I write you, I often glance over past letters and am tempted to just “copy and paste” an old one just to see if you’re paying attention. I’ve also found they are a quick and interesting ways to be reminded of our journey through life with the Lord thus far.

Will you be surprised to know that 2018 will be our 50th year of ministry? LOGOI was incorporated as a charitable organization in the State of Florida on the 26th day of March, 1968. I was five years old. Who would have thought that almost 50 years later, I’d be writing you a Christmas letter.

Glancing over past Christmas letters, I was filled with joy and nostalgia remembering LOGOI’s journey. Like a great metaphor of life, the Lord has taken us to the tops of mountains (such as El Alto in Bolivia and Puno in Peru) and into deep valleys and plains (like in the Patagonia in Chile and Argentina). We have journeyed to great cities (like Mexico City and Havana) and to shanty towns and slums just outside of great cities (like in Caracas and Buenos Aires). As we work to “equip God’s people to do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12), it’s amazing to know God continues to use LOGOI’s ministry in places we haven’t physically been in decades.

And I’d like you to be encouraged, too. As you consider investing in LOGOI’s ministry with your prayers and finances it may help to get out your calculator. Because our focus is on equipping national pastors and missionaries who are already at work proclaiming the Gospel to others, feel free to multiply by 20, 50, and even 100 or more the numbers below to get a more accurate understanding of what God is doing with your investments.

In a typical month:

*    Over 40,000 visit our online Bible resource center

*    Over 11,000 click on items in our Spanish FaceBook pages

*    Over 800 discover LOGOI’s ministry for the first time

f my Dad were here he would smile and say, “What are 50 years compared to eternity?” He truly had his heart and mind set on Heaven just as the Apostle Paul asked us to do (see Colossians 3). Even so, it is a wonderful milestone and blessing from the Lord. I often asked my Dad why LOGOI was still hanging around all these years? His eyes would fill with tears and he would say, “Because Christ loves His bride!”

And that is our Christmas message! That is our daily message. Is there any more joyful news than:

“For unto us a Child is born,

Unto us a Son is given;

And the government will be upon His shoulder.

And His name will be called

Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace”

(Isaiah 9:6 NKJV).

And if that’s not enough, He uses people full of flaws, shortcomings, and imperfections — in other words, you and me — to be a part of accomplishing His purposes. So of course, we boldly ask for your prayers and financial partnership. What a joy it is to serve the Lord with you as we joyfully proclaim, “His name will be called Wonderful.”
